This exhibition will feature objects from around the world that demonstrate the power, speed, and serviceability of the horse and similar steeds. The exhibit will display artifacts from the Middle Eastern, Asian, Native American and Mexican cultures while exhibiting how important and connected these animals have been to humans across the world.

The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum is excited to announce the homegrown exhibition, Unseen Portrait: The Art of Tom Hom. Many in San Diego have heard of longtime Chinese American leader and political legend, Tom Hom, but only his family and close friends are aware of his artistic talents. 05/11/2017 - Curatorís Talk: A Last Look at British Modern
This exhibition will chronicle the graphic work of two of the most significant movements of early 20th century modern art in Britain: Vorticism and the Grosvenor School. Selected from the world-renowned print collection of the British Museum, the exhibition will feature around sixty works by exemplars of British modernism.

Please join us as the exhibition curator, Erin Maynes, guides us through the galleries on a last tour before the show closes. Erin will speak in the galleries using the works exhibited as visual aids.

03/26/2017 - Reception for Art Exhibit: Street Photography around the World
Opening reception for the exhibition, "Street Photography around the World," featuring the work of nationally known photographer, Arthur Lavine, and his cousin, Dana Levine.

Rancho Bernardo resident, Arthur Lavine, whose career spanned seven decades, died this past summer. As a way to honor him, his wife, Rhoda Lavine, and his cousin, Dana Levine, created a joint exhibition focused on street photography.

In the 1960s, a melodic fusion of samba and jazz known as bossa nova exploded from the exotic melting pot of Brazil, establishing itself as the perfect soundtrack for seduction!

Music by: Antonio Carlos Jobim, Caetano Veloso, Milton Nascimento, Francis Hime, Sergio Assad and Celso Machado.
Voice, flutes, guitar, bass, percussion, piano.

Mingling at intermission will feature wine from Martin Steinley Wine Merchant.

Let Camarada charm you, and perhaps ignite sleeping passions, with the romantic and lyrical sounds of Bossa Brazil!

03/17/2017 - Art Exhibition: Kulvinder Kaur Dhew & Bruce Dehnert
Kulvinder Kaur Dhew and Bruce Dehnert come together to exhibit at the James Alan Rose Gallery. Dhew, whose paintings, drawings and digital prints have been included in collections as assorted as Kazuo Ishiguru and MTV Europe and Dehnert, an esteemed potter and sculptor, are artists whose work can often reference similar themes using very different media. In this exhibition, Dhew's drawings are a sustained exploration of charcoal on paper and depict elemental climatic events. Dehnert presents a body of wood-fired ceramics that portray a decorative approach and the use of a kiln to provide a surface that presents the process through which the work has passed.

Join the Friends of Taka Sumi-e brush painting society members as they explore The Year of the Rooster in paintings, fashions, painting demonstration, music and more. This is the 15th annual exhibition, which takes place in Room 101. Friends of Taka society members are also students at the San Diego Community College Continuing Education program.

Dan McCleary will discuss print work he's been doing in Oaxaca, Mexico for the past 16 years with printmaker Fernando Sandoval.

Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) is a cultural jewel located in downtown Oceanside with a view of the Pacific Ocean and the historic Oceanside Pier. In addition to contemporary art exhibitions, OMA offers classes, lectures, concerts, docent tours and community events. 02/13/2017 - 'Every Which Way' Exhibition
"Every Which Way" is the third in an annual series of exhibitions inspired by San Diego State University's campus-wide initiative, the Common Experience. Comprised of artwork created by faculty and students from the School of Art + Design, the exhibition explores the current theme "Experience Movement" through multiple disciplines and interpretations. The selection in "Every Which Way" includes approaches ranging from participatory and playful to pieces that examine political and social issues.
