The Lemon Grove Historical Society and the Lemon Grove Library will unveil Christy Hale's new, bilingual book, ""Todos Iguales/All Eqal,"" exploring the landmark 1931 desegregation case in Lemon Grove's lone grammar school. Replete with an original corrida, the book is geared to all ages, but especially to youngsters. Alvarez v. School Board was the first successful, court-ordered school desegregation case in the U. S. and was cited as precedent by Thurgood Marshall et al in the famous 1954 Brown v. Board of Education. Meet author-artist Hale, bring your questions, enjoy refreshments and book signing, and celebrate the release of this important book (Lee & Low 2019).
