The Jazz at TSRI series continues with a return visit by Antonio Sanchez & Migration, the latest edition of Sanchez?s quintet, featuring John Escreet on piano, Fender Rhodes and Thana Alexa on vocals, Chase Baird on tenor saxophone and EWI, and Matt Brewer on bass. Widely regarded as one of the top drummers in jazz today, Grammy-winner Sanchez has built an international reputation from his work as composer of the score to the I??rritu film ?Birdman,? as a leader of his own groups, and as drummer to Pat Metheny and many other leading artists. The band?s latest release ?Lines in the Sand? features Sanchez?s musical reflections on the issues surrounding immigration and the border, based in part on his own experience as an immigrant from Mexico.
