The San Diego Diplomacy Council's Global Social Hour will honor International Women of Courage.
Now in its 13th year, the Secretary of State?s International Women of Courage Award (IWOC) annually recognizes women around the globe who have demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equality, and women?s empowerment, often at great personal risk and sacrifice. One IWOC awardee will be coming to San Diego to collaborate with local organizations and businesses on strategies and ideas to empower women both in the United States and abroad. Also in attendance will be 20 educators and education administrators from 11 countries visiting San Diego on the U.S. Department of State?s IVLP program during the same week. Countries represented include Kurdish Iraq, Bolivia, Georgia, People?s Republic of China, Russia, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates.
After the event, please join us in the Four Flowers Theater for the annual Rhythm in Blue production. Over 60 students from the percussion and band program have combined to create an exciting show of all things rhythm! The show will feature contemporary percussion ensembles, world drumming, driving drumlines, and a wide variety of visual and rhythmic selections.
Admission/Cost: FREE but please
