USCD Theatre & Dance stages Moliere's masterpiece about the curmudgeon's curmudgeon, in which the great French playwright exposes the "frivolity and inconsistency of his contemporaries." Nicholas Rapp directs.

Exhausted with uncertainty, Alceste finds himself at a party in order to uncover the true nature of Celimene?s affections. There he encounters society; a slick, capricious people, who are, in Alceste's estimation, embodiments of decaying values and apathy in the face of corruption. With an unjust lawsuit hanging over his head, he comes to realize first hand the merit of speaking disingenuously as a course to survive. Alceste must finally decide whether his personal convictions are more or less important than his place in this world. 1666. A comedy.
