Panel Discussion: Keepers of the Culture

In February 2018, the San Diego African American Museum of Fine Art (SDAAMFA) hosted at the San Diego History Center its first annual recognition of individuals whose contributions have resulted in retaining and expanding the cultural expressions that are uniquely African American. This recognition has become exceedingly important during this time when we see the rich, and diverse array of aesthetics, expressions and styles inherent in African American culture continue to be limited or all together omitted by major institutions.
