Documentary: Singing Our Way to Freedom

With the help of the Media Arts Center and a successful 2016 Kickstarter campaign, local filmmaker Paul Espinosa was able to raise the $40,000 needed to complete his inspirational documentary celebration of Chicano musician and San Diego activist Ramon ?Chunky? Sanchez. This recipient of the San Diego Latino Film Festival Audience Award for Best Documentary follows Chunky from his early days as a farmworker to 2012, when the National Endowment of the Arts recognized him with a National Heritage Fellowship. The screening is free and open to the Public, and Espinosa will be on hand for a post-show discussion.
