Enjoy a day filled with food, sun, and championship beach bocce ball action while raising money for Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad and Friends of the Powerhouse. Parking is available at the Del Mar Racetrack (enter through the Solana Gate off Via de la Valle), and shuttles are provided to the beach. This event is 21+, but all spectators of all ages are welcome.

The Men's Eagles will look to punch their tickets to the 2019 Rugby World Cup by defeating Canada in their Rugby World Cup Qualifying Series. The two-game series kicks off in Canada (June 24) before heading to Torero Stadium at the University of San Diego on July 1. Men's 3:00 PM; Women's 5:30 PM.

06/11/2017 - Baseball South Of The Border With The Tijuana Toros
A cornrowed Kenny Powers is about the only sideshow missing from this dose of pro Mexican baseball (dancing bull-alligator-chicken mascot trio and cheerleading squad aside). Grab your mitt and Big Chew and join Turista Libre in cheering on the Tijuana Toros as they take on the Alacranes de Durango at Estadio Gasmart, a 16,000-capacity ballpark that underwent a nearly $2 million renovation in 2013.

Tickets include roundtrip border transport, en-route libations and entrance to the game.

The group meets on the U.S. side of the border at the San Ysidro Transit Center at 3:00 PM, with an estimated return to the border at 11:00 PM

The San Diego World Affairs Council is pleased to announce a special event , featuring Chris Park, Major League Baseball Senior Vice President for Growth, Strategy & International. A reception follows the talk.

Mr. Park, who will be in San Diego for the Second Round of the World Baseball Classic, to be heldMarch 14-19 at Petco Park, will speak on MLB's plans for continued global growth and the challenges of operating in such diverse overseas markets as Cuba, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan, as well as relatively new countries for baseball such as Australia, China and the Netherlands.

SDWAC hopes for a strong showing among members and the general public for this timely discussion of the evolution of our national pastime into a truly international sport. After the talk, consider staying downtown and taking in World Baseball Classic action at nearby Petco Park!

Chris Park is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Baseball's international business initiatives, including MLB's global events, television, sponsorship, licensing, new market development and grassroots development in the sport's nontraditional areas. He also plays a key role in the World Baseball Classic, the global tournament jointly operated by MLB and the Major League Baseball Players Association. A Harvard graduate, Mr. Park was honored with a "Forty Under 40" Award from the SportsBusiness Journal/Daily in 2012.

This year's tournament will again feature the greatest baseball-playing nations in the world. The tournament will be held every four years thereafter.

Following a qualifying round held in Feb., March and Sept. of 2016, the 16-team field is now set for the main event from March 6-22, 2017. The games will span the globe, taking place across six venues, beginning with Seoul, Tokyo, Miami and Jalisco in the First Round. During the Second Round, teams will head to Tokyo and San Diego on the way to the Championship Round in Los Angeles.

10/30/2016 - Carrera De Los Muertos (Day Of The Dead Race)
The inaugural Carrera de los Muertos San Diego is a festive and fun 5k that will start and finish at Chicano Park, home of the largest outdoor collection of hispanic murals beneath the Coronado Bay bridge.

Run through the historic and recently redeveloped Barrio bordering the east village in downtown San Diego and stay to celebrate in the park with mariachi, dancers and comida deliciosa! Join family and friends to remember loved ones that have passed in this rich cultural tradition. You will experience a great sense of community through a little exercise, music, dance, face painting and a lot of fun. Nos vemos en la Carrera de los Muertos!
