Dragon boating is a growing, global sport with crews of 16-20 paddling in a boat decorated with an ornately carved dragon head at the bow and a tail in the stern. During races, boats consist of a crew, drummer and steersman. Enjoy the opening ceremony of our 501 c3 non-profit
10:00 AM North San Diego Latino Book & Family Festival The FREE event promotes literacy in all forms: educational, financial, reading, health, and community awareness. Sponsored by Latino Literacy Now (501)C3, this is the 67th festival and the 3rd held on the beautiful campus of MiraCosta College. Children who attend can enjoy many interactive activities and entertainment selected just for them. The entire family can gather information from over 20 workshops, 140 exhibitors, and the opportunity to meet authors and discuss books about and by Latino.

10:00 AM Oral History Workshop: Jiātng Gsh The San Diego Chinese Historical Society and Museum is pleased to host community member Tom Hom at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Extension, where he will share share stories from his time in public service (San Diego City Council District 5 Councilmember,1963-1967; and California State District 79 Assemblymember, 1968-1970), thinking toward how these earlier experiences may have influenced his participation with the Chinese Historical Society of Greater San Diego and Baja California to push for the designation of San Diego
11:00 AM San Diego Cabrillo Festival The Cabrillo Festival is a fun event for the entire family, with educational activities, cultural demonstrations and exciting folkloric performances. Brightly colored clothing and dramatic music and dancing bring to life the traditions of the Native American, Mexican, Portuguese and Spanish cultures that are part of the Age of Exploration. The Cabrillo Festival features food booths with delicious traditional Mexican, Native American, Portuguese and Spanish food. Vendors will showcase their various artistic goods. There, his downward spiral is punctuated by encounters with his teenage daughter, a gold-digging motel employee, a treacherous bartender, and his now-estranged wife. Revolving around the night of a murder, The Jacksonian brims dark humor and unearths tensions in a town poisoned by racism.
