All Day 2018 San Diego Asian Film Festival Pacific Arts Movement (Pac Arts) is thrilled to present the 19th Annual San Diego Asian Film Festival (SDAFF), the largest platform of Asian cinema on the west coast, from November 8-17, 2018. In its largest iteration yet, SDAFF will present over 160 films from 20 countries in 28 languages showcasing the best in both award-winning and cutting-edge cinema from Asia, Asian America and around the world.

This year, Pac Arts is adding Asian cuisine to the movie-goer experience, partnering with local San Diego restaurants to bring food featured in the films to festival attendees before and after the opening and closing night films!

"Expanding the world of the films to include San Diego cuisine is directly tied to our mission of telling the stories of Asian Americans and connecting them with lives here," says Pac Arts Artistic Director Brian Hu.

All San Diegans are welcome to attend the festival and experience some of the best Asian films of the year!

Admission/Cost: $12 per screening, Opening and Closing Films $40 - Multi-film and Festival Passes available

1:00 PM Film Discussion Class: The Band's Visit Director Eran Kolirin takes on cross-cultural relations in this spry and charming tale. The members of the Alexandria Police Ceremonial Orchestra have arrived in Israel to play at the opening of an Arab Cultural Center, but through a series of miscommunications and a wrong-bus ride, they find themselves trapped in the wrong town, in the middle of nowhere. The residents of the little town, with no hotel and no cultural center, are excited for a break in the daily monotony and welcome their Egyptian guests for the night.

In Hebrew, Arabic and English with English subtitles.

Discussion after the film with instructor Ralph DeLauro at the San Diego OASIS Lifelong Learning Center, Suite #325, in Grossmont Center.

7:00 PM Talk with Moshe Zonder from Netflix's Fauda A rare opportunity to hear from Moshe Zonder, head writer and director of the first season of Fauda, the first Israeli television series to be released as a Netflix Original. Set in the West Bank, Fauda goes beyond the usual ingredients of the thriller series: intelligence gathering and interludes of violent action. The setting is the flashpoint of a fifty-year-long conflict, and Zonder believes that they have made not only a deft work of entertainment but also a drama that gets at the political dynamic of the Israeli-Palestinian situation. After screening the series' first episode, Zonder will discuss the process of writing and producing the acclaimed series.
