6:15 PM San Diego Arab Film Festival The San Diego Arab Film Festival announced its line up and schedule for 2019. It will open on April 5 with the Yemeni film 10 Days Before the Wedding, the first commercial film in modern Yemeni history and that country's first submission to the Oscars. 10 Days Before the Wedding is one of 9 feature films and 6 shorts that will be featured during the Festival. Like last year, the festival will host 3 screenings at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park and 7 at the AMC 20 complex at Westfield Mission Valley. 7:30 PM Music: Kevin Roth & Trio Zheni The nonprofit San Diego Folk Heritage presents Musica Eclectica: Kevin Roth & Trio Zheni.

Kevin Roth offers a unique evening of original, traditional folk, and contemporary songs highlighting his lap dulcimer and guitarcimer, an original guitar-dulcimer hybrid created specifically for him, and maybe some autoharp, or piano. Kevin's credentials include a dozen Folkways/Smithsonian albums, the theme song for the TV show Shining Time Station, and collaborations with Noel Paul Stookey.

Balkan traditional singers Mary Ann Downs, Marie Hayes, and Stacey Barnett have formed Trio Zheni which, in Bulgarian, means Trio of Women. Together, they weave a tapestry of mysterious and powerful harmonies in the Eastern European style. With their voices, and occasional accompaniment on the guitar, the mandolin-like tambura, and doumbek drum, the group delights in bringing the unique sounds and rhythms of timeless Eastern folk songs to Western ears.
