2021 San Diego Latino Film Festival

The San Diego Latino Film Festival (SDLFF) is presented and produced by Media Arts Center San Diego. This year they will celebrate their 28th annual festival with in-person (drive-ins) and virtual screenings. The 11-day festival is aa celebration of Latino Cinema, Arts & Culture which will present over 100 films online online Latin America, the US, and abroad, as well as include live virtual Q&A sessions with filmmakers, and more. Media Arts Center San Diego’s San Diego Latino Film Festival was established 28 years ago initially as a student film festival (Cine Estudantil) focusing on works by Latinos and/or about the Latino Experience. Since that time, the San Diego Latino Film Festival has developed into one of the larger and well-respected Latino film festivals in the world. Over 330,000 people have attended during the past 28 years and over 4,000 films/videos have been screened. Admission/Cost: Ticket prices vary, see schedule link below. Talk: From Foundations to Frontiers

The Committee of 100 will share with the San Diego public a The Committee of 100 (C100) will share with the San Diego public a recent study titled, "From Foundations to Frontiers: Chinese American Contributions to the Fabric of America." This study aims to serve as a much-needed catalyst in educating the American public, policymakers, business leaders, and the media on the Chinese American community’s countless contributions to the United States.
The program will consist of a presentation of the study led by a speaker from the C100 organization, followed by an engaging discussion. Attendees will have access to all components of the study: the White Paper, industry-specific Pillar Reports, and an interactive microsite. study it commissioned to the Economist Group, under the title, From Foundations to Frontiers: Chinese American Contributions to the Fabric of America.

Cooking: A Tale of Two Caesars

The Culinary Historians of San Diego announce an online presentation via Zoom of "A Tale of Two Caesars" by Martin S. Lindsay at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 20, 2021. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held online via Zoom.
Many have claimed to, but who really originated Caesar's Salad? And where is Baja-Mediterranen style cooking from? Lindsay will explore the culinary legacies of the Cardini and Pastore families. From the origins of Caesar's Salad (Alex and Caesar Cardini) in Tijuana to Caesar's "Half-and-Halfâ" Pasta and brown mushroom sauce (Caesar Pastore) in San Diego.
