National University, 9388 Lightwave Ave., San Diego

Politics Download To My Calendar

Sponsored by the San Diego World Affairs Council in partnership with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Los Angeles, this program is guaranteed to be both intellectually engaging and culturally immersive!

Following the end of World War II and the Korean War, South Korea has served as an exemplary case of a nation that has successfully overcame both economic and political turmoil. Korea has become a model that many developing states around the globe aspire to emulate. Given its unique geopolitical location, South Korea has historically faced significant security challenges surrounded by the world's most powerful states—the United States, China, Japan, and Russia. This enduring geopolitical reality makes diplomacy critically important for South Korea.

Meanwhile, K-pop or K-culture has found universal appeal around the world― with people from all ethnicities and cultural backgrounds, especially, and enthusiastically, the younger generations. K- pop's cultural influence extends globally, shaping not only music, but many other fashion and entertainment trends.

Come and enjoy some Korean hors d'ouevres during the half hour networking time, learn from our panel of distinguished experts, and end the afternoon with a lively performance by the renowned SDSU K-Pop dance team! Experience "K-Diplomacy" where culture, economy, and politics intersect!
