Maureen Folan is a plain and lonely woman in her forties who lives alone with her mother Mag in the isolated mountains of Connemara, County Galway in Ireland. A fateful encounter leads to romance and escape for Maureen until her devious and declining mother Mag detours and derails Maureen’s last chance at love and sends the story careening towards a conclusion impossible to predict.
