An evening of firsts! City Ballet of San Diego presents three premieres in one show. For his new ballet 'An American in Paris', resident choreographer Geoffrey Gonzalez was inspired by the story of American fashion designer Clarie Mc Cardell. Set to George Gershwin's iconic score, Clarie finds herself in blossoming Paris at the Chanel luxury fashion house in the early 1960s. Maurice Ravel's 'Bolero' has always been in resident choreographer Elizabeth Wistrich sights to create a ballet based on this captivating work - the result is 'Bolero -The Awakening'. And finally, the company performs the San Diego premiere of 'Morphoses', an exciting ballet by Christopher Wheeldon, resident choreographer at New York City Ballet.
