We have Black women mayors in major cities, serving in congress and state legislatures. In San Diego, we have elected Monica Montgomery Steppe, the first Black woman to the County Board of Supervisors and only the second African American to serve on our Board of Supervisors since Leon Williams was elected over forty years ago.We will honor and celebrate the progress we've made. Now in our 6th year, Women of Color Roar Breakfast began as an event to honor and elevate Black Women elected officials and encourage young women of color to run for office and seek careers in public service.
