These two acclaimed short films by award-winning filmmakers Zeinabu Davis (Pandemic Bread) and Carlos Avila (The Kill Floor) take intimate and expressive approaches to exploring the impact of the global pandemic on diverse communities. These films explore how the pandemic’s grip on our lives upended both daily rituals and work in unprecedented ways. Through these portraits of essential workers, we see and feel relationships forged and also relationships shattered. Through their work in these films, Davis and Avila continue to explore their decades-long examination of race, class, and identity.
