Recovering Holocaust Art: Eight decades after it was taken, some art lost in the Holocaust has been returned to its rightful owners. Much artwork has not been returned. This discussion will set forth problems locating the art, determining the validity of the claims, choosing the legal rules to apply, selecting an appropriate forum for decision-making, and the many hazards of litigation.

Bert Lazerow was a legal writing teaching fellow at George Washington University and spent two years drafting regulations, legislation and tax treaties with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service’s Chief Counsel’s Office. He joined the School of Law faculty in 1967. The San Diego Mayor and City Council have appointed him to the La Jolla Shores Planning Advisory Board, a committee that advises the Planning Department on real estate development in La Jolla Shores.
