The China beat is one of the toughest in journalism — and one of the most important. How the U.S. media has covered the country has profoundly influenced American government policy and shaped public opinion in the U.S. and around the world. In this talk, former CNN Beijing Bureau Chief Mike Chinoy will tell the story of the American journalists who have covered China in their own words.

Speaker:

Mike Chinoy, Former CNN senior Asia correspondent and Non-resident Senior Fellow at the U.S.-China Institute at the University of Southern California

Moderator:

Paul Pickowicz, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of History and Chinese Studies, UC San Diego
