Fred Benedetti and his daughters Regina and Julia, in addition to performing a wide variety of popular music in numerous different venues around San Diego, also present a number of tribute concerts that honor rock and folk luminaries that are part of the soundtrack of our lives. As part of this effort, they have performed a number of concerts featuring individual members of the most prolific song-writing Beatles: John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Tonight they will pay tribute to George Harrison, who was a great devote and admirer of Indian spirituality and Indian classical music. It's not just the use of Indian instruments such as the sitar which displays Harrison's embrace of Indian music, much of the song writing that Harrison did was based on Indian musical ideas, forms, harmonies, scales, tempos and rhythms. As such, many of his most famous songs are set apart from other pop songs by their infusion with Indian musical ideas. Many people know about Fred's virtuoso ability on guitar, but his daughters are also astonishingly good vocalists. Not infrequently the Benedetti Trio is joined by great bass work of Jeff Pekarek who has played music with Fred since they were both in High School.
