All Day Native Truth & Healing California Genocide Conference Four days of presentations, music, documentary films, and political action sessions offer attendees a chance to enhance knowledge of the California genocide and Indigenous peoples' history. Engage with others who want to learn more about these topics and come away with new understanding. Come together with the community to share ideas for resolutions that will be sent to state officials at the end of the conference.

Topics to be discussed:

• The Genocide of Indigenous Nations and Peoples
• Traditional Healing and Indigenous Wisdom
• Violence Against Women Act, Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women, Native Feminism & Matriarchal Survivance
• History of the Mission System in California
• Boarding Schools, Contemporary Oppression of Native School Children & Native Youth Empowerment
• Child Welfare and ICWA: Healing Our Children, Families and Communities
• Sacredness of Indigenous Food, Land Management and Protection
• Repatriation
• Contemporary Tribal Law & Restorative Justice
• Film Festival: Tribal Justice; Doctrine of Discovery, the Code of Domination

11:00 AM Sumi-e Ten Exhibition Visitors to the exhibition will see Japanese paintings in monochrome ink (suibokuga/sumi-e), paintings in both monochrome ink and color (bokusaiga/nihonga), and hanging scrolls (kakejiku). Flora arrangements by San Diego Ohara School of Ikebana and Sogetsu School of Ikebana. Koto music will be performed by Masaaumi Kai. Our popular wearable art fashion show will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 23rd. Special painting demonstration will be by award winning Washu-Kai member Naoko Ozaki on Saturday at 2:00 PM On Sunday, November 24th, a special painting demonstration will be by award winning Washu graduate Wendy C. 7:00 PM Film: Light and Truth (Urim Ve Tumim) The Israeli television series ?Light and Truth (Urim VeTumim)? takes viewers deep inside the secret world of a yeshiva, an elite Orthodox boarding school devoted to producing the next generation of scholars of the religious Zionist movement. The series follows the lives of the yeshiva's teachers, rabbis, students and parents through a series of twists and turns as they grapple with changing times, declining enrollment, financial hardship and soul-searing scandal. The series creator and head screenwriter Shuki Ben-Naim is an MGSDII Visiting Professor at SDSU this fall. Ben-Naim has also written for the series ?Nuyork,? ?A Touch Away,? ?Meorav Yerushalmi? and ?Five Men and a Wedding.?
