All Day The Joyce Forum Short Film Festival After many successful years as a single-day event, as part of the San Diego International Jewish Film Festival, the Joyce Forum has blossomed into its own two-day festival. The first-ever international, standalone Jewish short film festival offers imagination-stretching short films from across the globe and from almost every cinematic genre: documentary, drama, comedy, horror, animation and more.

The Joyce Forum Short Film Festival will take place from Oct. 6 to 7 (with an additional evening of shorts on Oct. 8 for a Brews and Views event).

We believe this festival is the first of its kind across the globe, and it has already received over 130 film submissions with Jewish content from 17 countries! This film festival will showcase elements of Jewish life, history and culture, as well as films created by Jewish filmmakers. Q&A's and discussions with renowned filmmakers and other special guests will be included to enhance your festival experience.

Israeli short films are presented in partnership with The Murray Galinson San Diego-Israel Initiative, who have invited Israeli filmmakers to San Diego for a two-week artist residency.

5:30 PM San Diego Italian Film Festival Gala Join the San Diego Italian Film Festival for their 2018 Gala Party! With food, drinks and a film!

Musician and actor Peppe Voltarelli will be in attendance!

About the film:
The story of Tony Vilar is half real and half legend. Historically, he is a real-life singing star who was born in Calabria, Italy, moved to Argentina as a child, and became one of the most successful South American singers of the 1960s. At the height of his career, Tony Vilar mysteriously disappeared. But a legend grew up around the disappearance, and director Giuseppe Gagliardi takes on that legend with a musical tale about fictional Calabrian singer Peppe Voltarelli, who has always venerated the myth of Tony Vilar. Setting out to learn what has become of the former crooner, Peppe's journey leads him from Italy to Buenos Aires and finally New York. The movie plays with both documentary and fiction with this tongue-in-cheek, mockumentary-style spoof, enlivened by a broadcast of improbable characters. A whimsical road trip film that will finally unveil the mystery of Tony Vila
