12:00 AM - 12:00 AM Jewels of India Exhibit Centuries of Opulence: "Jewels of India" features 50 remarkable gemstone jewelry pieces—on loan from a private collection—that have rarely been seen in public. Showcasing more than 300 years of adornment in India, the exhibit explores the original sources of the diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires and other gems that decorate these jeweled pieces. It also explores their religious and cultural symbolism, the wars fought for them, and the historical tradition of gemology—the study of gems.

Hafez is the only writer to have his own holiday, based on the strength of his achievement and his verse that reflects the best aspirations of a people.

Join a diverse slate of featured writers and musicians as we celebrate Hafez Day in San Diego and use verse as an avenue for love, peacemaking and reconciliation.

Co-sponsored with the Persian Cultural Center and presented in conjunction with the 2017 One Book One San Diego reading campaign.

Daphne is a troubled young girl locked up for committing a robbery. Josh is an inmate confined to the boy's ward in the neighboring building. Their prohibited interactions flower into a forbidden yet innocent romance that provides an escape from the confines of their menial lives.
