1:00 PM Exhibition: Jorge Pardo Lux Art Institute is proud to announce critically acclaimed Cuban artist Jorge Pardo as its final artist-in-residence of Season 10. See first rate art in San Diego-be part of the Lux Experience.

Jorge Pardo's visually alluring work examines the crossing of contemporary painting, design, sculpture and architecture. Using a broad palette of exuberant colors, multifarious patterns and a mix of organic and industrial materials, Pardo's works range from murals to home furnishings to collages to larger-than-life fabrications.

Nestled in the northern Yucatán jungle, Pardo combined Mayan culture and modern design, where a sprawling series of buildings, structures, pools and gardens subsumed his life for over six years. Constantly challenging defined aesthetic disciplines and ambits, Pardo engages viewers throughout the world with works consistently questioning distinctions between fine art and design.

5:00 PM Music: Feufollet When summer rolls around, it's time again for the city's popular TGIF Concerts in the Parks series. For over 30 years, the City of Carlsbad has presented live music throughout the city. This year, nine concerts will be presented in four beautiful parks in Carlsbad.

With a variety of food vendors for all your picnic needs, hands-on art activities for all ages, green grass for hanging out with friends and family, top quality live music and a dance floor to boogie the night away, TGIF has everything you need for a great night out in Carlsbad.

While Feufollet remains central to the neo-traditionalist brush fire they helped ignite as youths, their album, "En Couleurs," found the band coming into its own and pushing the envelope, leading the way once again as Cajun music extends itself into a new century. It was praised by the New York Times, Garden & Gun and Elvis Costello who proclaimed, "En Couleurs is the most beautifully melodic album I've heard all year."

This provocative piece of theater — part history, part ghost story — is a jazz integration of past and present, the living and dead, of factual accounts and creative interpolation.
