All Day San Diego County Fair The San Diego County Fair offers all of the deep-fried foods-on-a-stick, rides, animals and games you've experienced at other state and county fairs, but this fair is also known for world-class exhibits in fine art, photography, woodworking, jewelry/gems and minerals, home and hobby, and the Paul Ecke Jr. Flower & Garden Show...not to mention an unsurpassed view of the Pacific Ocean from the Ferris Wheel! The Toyota Summer Concert Series at the San Diego County Fair features nationally recognized entertainment every night; the entertainment lineup is usually announced in late March. With an additional eight stages located throughout the grounds, you're sure to find a band, dance troupe, DJ or comedian to suit your fancy!

This year's fair features numerous Latino performing artists and groups.

Admission/Cost: Free - $19 per day. Many discount packages and ticket deals can be found.

All Day San Diego International Fringe Festival The San Diego International Fringe Festival is designed to help provide a platform for artists while also helping the community as a whole—boosting arts and culture within the gorgeous City of San Diego.

During the festival, artists from across the United States—and from around the world—participate alongside homegrown talent in art forms spanning from theater, busking/street performance, cabaret, comedy, circus, dance, film, poetry, spoken word, puppetry, music, visual art, and design—and it is open to any other type of art-y-ness not listed.

Key to the operation of the San Diego International Fringe Festival is its role to support, encourage and facilitate producers, artists, presenters, venues and businesses. The festival works to ensure that artists and all participants involved have the best possible experience.

For independent artists, the San Diego International Fringe Festival is an inspirational environment to showcase their work.

Admission/Cost: $10 per show + $7 for a Fringe Tag, Required (Tags NOT required for our venues in Tijuana Mexico, or at Family Fringe, Nations of San Diego, Street Theatre, or FREE programming). Multi-show passes available.

9:00 AM 45th Annual San Diego Scottish Highland Games The air at Vista's Brengle Terrace Park will be filled with the sound of bagpipes when the San Diego Scottish Highland Games and Gathering of the Clans mark a colorful 44th anniversary celebration during this weekend.

Scottish culture will fill the park during the two-day festival, which will feature a variety of activities and entertainment for guests of all ages: Sheepdog trials, Highland dancing, Scottish vendors, cuisine and beverages, bagpipe and drumming competitions, clan heritage tents and hands-on children's activities.

Athletic lads and lassies can compete in Scottish competitions, such as the caber toss, stone throw, hammer throw and weight for distance.

The festival's popular beer garden (recognized by San Diego Magazine as "Best Beer Garden in North County") will be a gathering place where attendees can sample flavorful beer varieties, while mingling with friends old and new.

10:30 AM Film: Das Wunder Von Bern Come see Das Wunder Von Bern, the German-language film that tells the story of a young boy from a working class family in post-war Germany. He struggles with the situation of his estranged father returning from war captivity. 1:00 PM Juneteenth Block Party San Diego Melanin presents The Juneteenth Block Party, featuring music, food vendors, pop up shops, the electric slide, a double dutch competition, spades and so much more!

Juneteenth is a holiday to commemorate the end of the Civil War, specifically Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger's Order No 3, as proclaimed on June 19, 1865, in Galveston, TX. This martial order was given to enforce the conditions of President Lincoln's 1862 Emancipation Proclamation, while some 250,000 were still enslaved in Texas. Juneteenth "Independence Day" is celebrated in 43 states and Washington, DC.

4:00 PM Art: Emotions and Landscapes Our next exhibition will feature Yihong Zhou, a contemporary Chinese painter whose primary focus is portraiture. Classically trained, Zhou studied at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, earning his Bachelor of Arts from the Faculty of Oil Painting in 1983. Rejecting the portraiture trends set by his contemporaries, Zhou sought to follow his own path in creating his own unique style. Rather than confining himself within the bounds of any single technique, Zhou instead gained inspiration from his subjects and their settings, allowing them to dictate his brushwork. The result is work replete with expressive strokes that truly capture the essence of the moment.

Accordingly, his portraits provide a glimpse into the daily life of Chinese citizens from the last few decades, portraying moments of time captured expertly in the fast- paced and ever-changing environment of modern day China.

6:30 PM Documentary: On Her Shoulders Every year, unique perspectives from around the world come to San Diego for the IRC's International Documentary Film Series. From the front lines of conflict to rebuilding life in a new country, these films take an honest look at the reality of the refugee experience. Each screening is followed by a Q&A discussion with an expert on the film's subject area.

In On Her Shoulders, Nadia Murad, a 23-year old Yazidi, survived genocide and sexual slavery committed by ISIS. Now this ordinary girl finds herself thrust onto the international stage as the voice of her people.
