All Day Czech Marionettes in Balboa Park Big Joe uses traditional Czech marionettes to tell the story of Princess Phoebe's Birthday Present. Czech puppetry was imported in the late 17th Century by itinerant puppeteers from Holland, England, France, and Italy. Initially Czechs assisted the foreign groups, but by the end of the 18th Century Czech companies had been established. The puppets got smaller and more stylized, and the size of their heads and hands (the most expressive parts of the puppet) became more exaggerated.

All Day San Luis Rey Inter-Tribal Powwow Join the San Luis Rey Band of Luiseño Mission Indians for the Annual Inter-Tribal Powwow with arts and craft booths, food, dancers, drums, an opportunity drawing and contest dancing.

Presented free to the public by the San Luis Rey Mission Indian Foundation, the 21st Annual Inter-Tribal Powwow will feature parades, dancing, drumming, storytelling, arts and crafts and food for sale. The Inter-Tribal Powwow is one of the largest in the region, and it is the only one presented on the grounds of a California mission. It draws participant from 15+ tribes, including the Diegueño tribe and Luiseño bands in San Diego County, as well as tribes from California, the Southwest and beyond.

The highlight of the powwow is the Grand Entry (staged at noon, 7:00 and 8:00 PM Saturday and at noon Sunday), in which dancers in traditional native dress enter the grounds in a parade formation. No pictures are allowed during the sacred entry, but the public is encouraged to join the parade by drumming, dancing and marching.

Throughout each day, men, women and youth dancers will participate in intertribal competition dancing (fancy shawl, jingle, grass, hoop and traditional styles) and drumming. Vendors will sell Indian arts and crafts, and food booths will sell burgers, hot dogs, Indian tacos, and fry bread.

10:00 AM San Diego Festival of the Arts This event was held in downtown for the first time last year after 29 years in La Jolla. It was a success, and so they're giving Waterfront Park another go. This festival has painting, sculpture, photography, glass, jewelry, ceramics, wood, fiber, and mixed media from artists around the world.

In addition to art displays there's live music and entertainment, a craft beer and wine garden, and cuisine from local restaurants. Proceeds benefit adaptive sports programs for San Diegans with disabilities.

11:00 AM San Diego Greek Festival The parishioners of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church invite all to a celebration of culture and community in the heart of San Diego.

This annual gathering offers a variety of Greek cuisine, handmade pastries, and traditional Greek coffee, all within the festive atmosphere of music and dance. Live bands will perform both traditional and contemporary Greek music, and youth dance troupes wearing folk costumes will showcase their skills throughout the weekend. The Oracle Wine Lounge boasts the largest array of Greek wines in California, while the Opa beer garden offers both imported Greek and domestic brews. There will be a Greek foods market, shopping, a kids' activity area, and frequent church tours led by Father Andrew Scordalakis.

St. Spyridon belongs to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. We strive to preserve our culture and traditions by fostering our youth and nurturing our church and its ministries.

2:00 PM Stage: Having Our Say New Village Arts could have a mega-hit on its hands. TheirHaving Our Sayis easily one of the year's very best thus far. Sadie and Bessie Delaney (Emily Mann based the play on actual African-American sisters) have invited us to celebrate their father's birthday. It's 1993. He passed away long ago. In fact, the sisters have outlived just about everyone else in the family. Sadie is 103, Bessie's 101. They participated in over a century of American history, and givedeeply felt personal accounts of life under Jim Crow laws, the Harlem Renaissance, and Civil Rights. Whilequiet Sadie avoids confrontations,"Queen" Bessie would rather die (and almost does) than cowtow to prejudice. Milena (Sellers) Phillips' Sadie and Sylvia M'Lafi Thompson's Bessie are outstanding. It's as if each plays a bucket list role. And their ritual-like, extensive preparations of a meal are amazing to behold. Christopher Scott Murillo must have imported hisintricately-detailed set from the Delaney's Mt. Vernon home. Alldesign elements jibe beautifully. And it's impossible to believe that Melissa Coleman-Reed made her directorial debut with this truly splendid show.Critic's Pick.

3:00 PM Baseball South Of The Border With The Tijuana Toros A cornrowed Kenny Powers is about the only sideshow missing from this dose of pro Mexican baseball (dancing bull-alligator-chicken mascot trio and cheerleading squad aside). Grab your mitt and Big Chew and join Turista Libre in cheering on the Tijuana Toros as they take on the Alacranes de Durango at Estadio Gasmart, a 16,000-capacity ballpark that underwent a nearly $2 million renovation in 2013.

Tickets include roundtrip border transport, en-route libations and entrance to the game.

The group meets on the U.S. side of the border at the San Ysidro Transit Center at 3:00 PM, with an estimated return to the border at 11:00 PM
