5:00 PM Talk: The Rise and Fall of a Fraud Investigator in China In this rare presentation, Peter Humphrey will provide an eyewitness account of how his due diligence and anti-fraud work for international businesses hit the buffers when he and his partner and wife, Yingzeng Yu, were imprisoned for two years in Shanghai on charges of illegally obtaining private information.

He will describe the ordeal of the Humphrey family in the hands of China's public security bureau and judicial system, and the legal risk of doing business in China. This is Humphrey's first lecture at an American university since he and his wife were released from prison in June 2015.

A reception will follow the talk. The event will take place at the GPS Robinson Auditorium. Closest parking will be at the Pangea Parking Structure. Permits must be purchased at kiosks and displayed in car. There will be signage to direct you from Pangea to GPS.

Admission/Cost: FREE but Registration Required.

6:10 PM Padres Italian Heritage Night The Little Italy Association (LIA), Convivio, and the Italian Cultural Center will host the "Live the Game. Love the Heritage" program at the San Diego Padres Italian Heritage Night as part of the Padres vs. Marlins game at Petco Park. The San Diego Padres Italian Heritage Night will offer two different ticketed experiences: either general admission tickets, or an elevated VIP experience on the Pacifico Porch. VIP ticket holders will receive unlimited food during the hour before and the hour after the first pitch; unlimited Pacifico beer and soft drinks one hour before the first pitch until the 7th inning stretch; a commemorative hat, and limited-edition swag for $95. 6:30 PM Panel Discussion: Cross-Border Legal Transactions for Artists SDAI is pleased to partner with the California Lawyers for the Arts to present CROSS/NAVIGATE, a free and public panel discussion: Cross-Border Legal Transactions for Artists and the Creative Community. Join us for a panel discussion with moderator Maya Srikrishnan from Voice of San Diego, artist Marcos Ramirez Erre, gallerist Aida Valencia, tax attorney Raúl Villarreal Garza, Esq., and immigration lawyer Kimberley Best Robidoux, Esq.

The panel discussion includes a pre-event interactive cocktail hour that will invite participants to share their questions or thoughts on cross-border legal transactions.

Artists, arts organizations and creative entrepreneurs working on both sides of United States/Mexico Border face unique legal challenges. While the border region is a dynamic space presenting great creative opportunities, its complicated legal landscape can be difficult to navigate.

Please join us for a panel discussion that will shed light on some of the most important legal issues facing the cross-border creative community, including tax, immigration/authorization to work, intellectual property, and business transactions. The experienced panel will include artists and gallerists, attorneys and accountants who engage in cross-border work or represent clients working on both sides of the border.

Admission/Cost: FREE

8:00 PM Stage: Avenue Q Avenue Q tells the story of Princeton, a recent college grad, who moves to run-down Avenue Q in New York. There, he befriends an eclectic group of humans, puppets and monsters, and learns the life lessons that children's television never would have thought to explore.

With hummable songs like "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist" and "The Internet is for Porn," this show promises off-color laughs and outrageous moments, but it has also warmed audiences' hearts with its lovable and unique cast of characters.

Note: Avenue Q might be inappropriate for young audiences due to mature themes and language.

Admission/Cost: $43 - $46

Location:
New Village Arts Theatre
2787 State Street
