12:30 PM  San Diego International Jewish Film Festival The 30th annual San Diego International Jewish Film Festival will be held February 12 (Special Underwriter Preview Night), February 13-23, 2020. We use various venues throughout San Diego County, playing to roughly 20,000 patrons every year. Since its inception in 1990, the SDIJFF has become one of the largest and most prestigious film festivals of its kind, and has the highest attendance of any Jewish cultural event in San Diego County.

The SDIJFF presents feature-length documentary, narrative and animated films along with a national and international roster of guest speakers and directors. We offer an array of films that depict elements of Jewish life, history and culture or are films by Jewish directors (which possibly have no Jewish content). The film festival also includes a collection of short films (Brews & Views), a film for teens, and a film for young adults in their 20’s, 30's and 40’s.

8:00 PM  The Benedetti Trio: George Harrison Tribute Fred Benedetti and his daughters Regina and Julia, in addition to performing a wide variety of popular music in numerous different venues around San Diego, also present a number of tribute concerts that honor rock and folk luminaries that are part of the soundtrack of our lives. As part of this effort, they have performed a number of concerts featuring individual members of the most prolific song-writing Beatles: John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Tonight they will pay tribute to George Harrison, who was a great devote and admirer of Indian spirituality and Indian classical music. It's not just the use of Indian instruments such as the sitar which displays Harrison's embrace of Indian music, much of the song writing that Harrison did was based on Indian musical ideas, forms, harmonies, scales, tempos and rhythms. As such, many of his most famous songs are set apart from other pop songs by their infusion with Indian musical ideas. Many people know about Fred's virtuoso ability on guitar, but his daughters are also astonishingly good vocalists. Not infrequently the Benedetti Trio is joined by great bass work of Jeff Pekarek who has played music with Fred since they were both in High School.
