7:00 PM  Italian Film: A Casa Tutti Bene (There Is No Place Like Home) An unexpected storm strands a family, gathered together to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of two elderly parents, Pietro and Alba, on the small island of Ischia in Southern Italy. The numerous relatives are forced to live together under the same roof for two days and two nights with no way out. The lives of the siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews, become ineluctably intertwined, lingering between a past which rehashes old and unforgotten disputes, a present which rekindles unresolved conflicts, and a future which appears to be uncertain for everyone. The island morphs into a labyrinth of passion and everyone must reckon with their own personal, sentimental, family, or professional circumstances.
Gabriele Muccino, Italy, 2018, 105m

7:30 PM Stage: The Great Leap When an American basketball team travels to Beijing for an exhibition game in 1989, the drama goes deeper than the strain between countries. For two men with a past and one teen with a future, the game is a chance to claim personal victories on and off the court. Tensions rise right up to the final buzzer as a pivotal moment in history collides with the action in the arena. Sharp-witted and weighty, this perceptive new play explores the cultural and political risks of raising your voice and standing your ground.

Admission/Cost: $25 - $60

Location:
The Old Town Theatre
4040 Twiggs Street
San Diego, CA 92110

8:00 PM Comedy: Armando Anto Comedian and musician Armando Anto makes his Martinis Above Fourth | Table + Stage debut with his show “The Maestro of Comedy” Thursday, January 23 at 8 p.m. Armando has been perfecting his unique style of standup comedy, utilizing his decades of classical violin mastery and his guitar skill.

Born and raised in France, he began studying classical violin at the French National Conservatory at the age of 5. After earning his BA in Finance, he turned his virtuoso talent into a business, embarking on a world tour of violin concerts. Performing and teaching his art for over a decade, Armando began implementing more and more comedy in his performances. Armando believes that in order to be successful, you have to surround yourself with successful people. This explains all the mirrors in his home.

He understood that laughing opens the heart and mind, and that people understand any concept better through humor. Following his twin muses, music and comedy, he has established himself as a standup comedian in Los Angeles. Armando feels he never spends enough time with himself. Ages: 18+

Admission/Cost: $20 - $25
