Stage: A People's Cuban Christmas Tale (Start)

Onstage Playhouse , 291 Third Avenue, Chula Vista

Theater

San Diego-based award-winning playwright, Herbert Siguenza completely reimagines Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol into an epic Cuban historical drama.

Ezequiel Scrooge is an American sugar baron caught up in the political upheavals of a country on the verge of revolution, its present and future. This retelling celebrates the Cuban people's desire for socialism and autonomy in the shadow of American economic interests. Lively classic Cuban music scores the tropical Christmas tale of a greedy man who finds personal redemption and a new social consciousness.
